I'm tinkering with an idea.  Maybe it's been tried before, and I hope I'm not exactly copying the format.

The concept of WordPrompt is simple.  I provide a word.  You provide art which was inspired by the word.  The inspiration can be instant, or after some time of reflection.  I will not provide the definition (which admittedly might make things a little more interesting, since the first thought may not have anything to do with the word); however, it is up to you to look it up, if needed.

The word need not be in the title or story; the key is that the word unlocked something.

You can explain how you arrived at the piece in your description.

So for the first prompt:

"Considerations"

As you submit or comment, please consider the following:

When viewing or commenting:
-----------------------------------
- Please be respectful of others and their work. Critiquing is acceptable; criticizing is not. Neither is trolling.

(The one consideration here should cover everything that could arise.)

When submitting:
--------------------
- Be sure your work is original.
- Fanfic consideration: Fan fiction should not be an attempt to simply use canon characters and have them do what you want ("shipping").

Fan fiction will be allowed if the use of canon characters is EXTREMELY limited (if you're using a universe, the chances are the canon characters will be mentioned).
- Keep things tasteful.
- A word about mature content: in the course of a story, mature things may happen, and this is understandable. Please mark accordingly.
- Another word about mature content: if the entire purpose of the story was to write something mature, please do not submit.
(This primarily means sexually themed writing)

- Please respect yourself and your work. Spell check and review before submitting. Show your best! :)

Please review our folders before you submit, and place accordingly.

I'm sorry, I submitted my "Holy Book of Job, Batman!" essay to the non-fiction folder thinking I was in the essay folder. I wasn't sure how to withdraw my submission request. So I apologize for the inconvenience.

No problems, we'll figure it out.

Thank you for submitting.

Especially the "How to write fight scenes" bit; something I'll have to review for personal reasons.  It's one thing to ask for a little bit of Willing Suspension of Disbelief; it's quite another to try and Hand Wave something that causes the audience to look at it and say, "OH COME ON NOW - YEAH, RIGHT."

Thanks. I figured out how to withdraw my submission. On my notifications, it gave me a message saying I had submitted and was now waiting for approval. Then it gave me the option to withdraw it. So, yeah. Sorry

No problem, I'm glad to contribute. I hope you and your other group members found my tutorial useful.

Ah, yes, Coleridge's words are words I live by as a writer. It's great advice, so I try to make sure everything stays consistent and not shoddily explained. Fight scenes are no different. You can only push the audience's limit so far before they call B.S. That's my biggest objection to "Wire Fu" movies; I can't stand the implausibility of the fights. So in my fights, I try to keep it gritty and true to real life.

I see one folder for short stories, but does it apply to only original stories? : o  if so, might I suggest a fanfic one-shot folder as well? ^^

(On break)

Ok. I'll ask Steve. :)
I'm at work now. So I won't be able to do anything right away.
Maybe on my lunch.
